Abstract
The messenger RNA platform that proved its speed and scalability during the COVID-19 pandemic has since been redirected toward one of oncology's longest-standing goals: a vaccine capable of training the immune system to recognize and destroy a patient's own tumor cells. Unlike prophylactic vaccines against infectious agents, therapeutic cancer mRNA vaccines are typically personalized, encoding neoantigens unique to an individual patient's tumor mutational profile, which are identified through next-generation sequencing of tumor and normal tissue.
