Abstract
The combination of stem cells with hydrogel scaffolds represents a central strategy in musculoskeletal tissue engineering, exploiting the capacity of mesenchymal stem cells to differentiate into osteogenic and chondrogenic lineages while relying on the hydrogel matrix to provide a biomimetic, hydrated three-dimensional microenvironment that supports cell viability, proliferation, and directed differentiation.
