Abstract
This article presents a systematic literature review examining wearable health technologies and remote patient monitoring (RPM) systems, their clinical evidence base, implementation determinants, and future directions. Publications from 2014 to 2024 indexed in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and IEEE Xplore were analysed. The review covers consumer and medical-grade wearable device categories, biosensor technologies enabling continuous physiological monitoring, clinical applications in cardiovascular disease, diabetes, respiratory conditions, and mental health, the evidence base for RPM in chronic disease management, data quality and algorithmic interpretation challenges, privacy and regulatory considerations, and the implications of wearable health technologies for Uzbekistan's healthcare system. The analysis demonstrates that RPM systems produce clinically meaningful improvements in chronic disease management — HbA1c reductions of 0.3–0.8%, blood pressure improvements of 3–7 mmHg systolic, and 30-day readmission reductions of 15–25% in documented programmes — while facing challenges including device accuracy variability, data integration deficits, and equitable access concerns.
