Abstract

This article analyzes the Soviet government's policy toward practitioners of traditional medicine in Uzbekistan, focusing on the restrictions imposed on their activities and the persecution they faced, based on historical sources and scholarly literature. It examines the Soviet anti-religious campaign, the ideological attitude toward traditional medicine, the legal status of traditional healers, and their role in society. The study also explores the separation of traditional medicine from the official healthcare system, the limitations placed on traditional healers, and the impact of these policies on the preservation of Uzbekistan's national medical heritage.
